History in the making

My sis unearthed some treasure gems recently, and this is one of my favourites:

It's a picture of my parents taken when they were in their early 20s, at Kota Tinggi. No wonder they kept bringing us there when we were kids!!

I've hardly seen any photos of them that young, but this picture speaks volumes. Their joy, vitality, YOUTH in it's glory! And check out my dad's abs!!

Wow. Not to brag, but my parents were hot! (Hey, their kids ain't that bad lookin' either...)

And look at them now...still happy as ever:

Mum's night out!!

Had THE MOST AMAZING NIGHT yesterday in a really long while.

We had the opportunity to watch a pre-screening of SATC 2, before it's even released WORLDWIDE.

Add to that, the GOLD CLASS EXPERIENCE.

We're talking about:

Cocktails on arrival.
Canapes.
Champagne AND wine (yes, more alcohol!)
Luxury reclining chairs (with storage for your bags and coats to boot!)
Gorgeous meal (I had the mini burgers with chips and tomato relish, Criss had the waldorf salad)
Free-flow of drinks.
Choc tops!!

I was in UTTER bliss. The best part for me really had to be getting to EAT HOT FOOD while WATCHING THE MOVIE. I never get to do that, because EG hates the smell. But I love to, because it's really two sensory experiences in one - laughter and digestion. Who says I can't multi-task?!!

As for the movie? Better than the first, I feel, it's really fabulous frivolous fun, you don't go in expecting deep and meaningful discussions on life (although the TV series did throw up some gems. SATC really does have smart writing, even EG agrees.) But it was the whole experience that really did it for me...dressing up, having a night out, eating, drinking...coming home to an amazing family! ;p

*Spoiler alert*

Watch out for the poignant scene where Charlotte and Miranda drink to the difficulties of being a mum. I toasted them whenever Miranda said "SIP!!"

In case you're wondering, my shoes matched the
sparkle in the above poster. *bling bling*!!

But...whyyyyyyy???

Love this quote I got off Rozz.

“The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.”

This week has been the busiest and most tiring in a long while. Yet fulfilling.

Worked through the weekend and I'm just so terribly glad to return home and have the bright shiny smiley faces of hubby and bubba. Even if I still have to cook!!

Sometimes it seems that regardless who brings home the bacon, it's the wife and mother who has to cook it! Meaning, even though EG has a long day at work (12-hr days on his feet everyday), and even though it has been draining for me as well caring for a rambunctious 2 y.o., I still pick myself up, greet him with a smile, cook (wish I can say I enjoy it a lot more), clean-up, AND still head to work after. (Which is what I usually do on Mon nites).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining.

Just whingeing.  ;p

My days are now filled with:

Work, usually once every weekend (if I'm lucky!)
Drilling Italian verbs into my brain each Tuesday
Caring for and picking up after Aidan
Caring for and picking up after EG
Playdates (which are TIRING I tell you!)
Kids Church volunteering
Groceries (for home and Guava Bean)
Housework
ZUMBA!!!
And, coming soon...cupcake baking for GB.

But I am still grateful. That I have the time and energy for all this!

Now...if only Aidan will sleep through the night and stop coming into my room! This transition from cot to big-boy bed HAS NOT BEEN FUN! Been rather sleep-deprived...

YHWH

Looks like church praise has sunk in - Aidan sang "He shall reign forever" on his own! :-))

He shall reign, forever
He shall reign, forever
He shall reign, forever, forever...

Parenting?

Here's a little video I did recently for our church's Young Families Clan Sunday.

It was pretty fun, and Aidan did a great cameo too! :-)

Enjoy!

NB: Aidan really likes this performing thing I reckon...just now, he called himself "Rock Star Aidan", grabbed his stool and ukelele and performed an entire rendition of Jesus Loves Me to me, Pooh bear and Poku the Panda who were sitting in a row on his bed. Too cute!!
